Our School
About our School
Welcome to Sequoya Elementary, a place where education goes beyond the conventional and embraces the uniqueness of every child. At Sequoya Elementary, every child matters, and every story is embraced.
We invite you to be part of our family, where education is not just a journey but a shared adventure of growth, creativity, and success. Here's why Sequoya is the perfect destination for Scottsdale and Phoenix families:
1. Holistic Education: Nurturing the Whole Child
- Our commitment to the "whole child" philosophy ensures that every student is not just a name but a unique story. We believe in loving our students before teaching them, creating a supportive environment for social-emotional learning (SEL).
2. Engaging and Developmental Approach
- Sequoya embraces a developmental approach to learning. We understand that children thrive in an environment that allows movement and exploration. From hands-on activities to creative lessons, our students are actively engaged in the learning process.
3. Experienced and Caring Faculty
- Our teachers, many of whom are parents or former parents themselves, bring a deep commitment to education. As part of our caring community, the staff has been a cornerstone of Sequoya for more than a decade, creating a stable and nurturing environment.
4. Specialized Programs for Every Child
- Sequoya offers a range of programs, from special education to gifted clusters. Special rotations include music, band, art, strings, PE, and Spanish, ensuring a well-rounded educational experience for every student.
5. Signature Events and Community Building
- From Young Authors Day to the Jingle Bell Jog, Sequoya's signature events not only showcase student achievements but also bring families together. Our theater program and annual play/musical are rigorously structured, fostering creativity and discipline.
6. Focus on Family and Community
- Sequoya is more than a school; it's a family. The culture on our campus is warm, supportive, and united. Trunk or Treat, Student-Led Parent-Teacher Conferences, and unique celebrations like Read Across America Week are just a few examples of how we bring families and the community together.
7. Urgency for Success
- Our dedicated teachers exude a sense of urgency for their students' success. Even the most veteran educators are continually focused on data-driven strategies to meet individual student needs. The Sequoya family believes in creating an environment where everyone is kind, fostering a culture of care and support.
